Schools are opening and school staff and pupils are slowly returning to their familiar Face to Face learning environment after a long period of mandatory social distancing due to Covid-19. For more than a year Educational Systems across Europe relied on Distance education so as not to discontinue children’s education and social interaction as far as possible. During the pandemic the whole educational community –teachers, pupils, and parents- acquired knowledge, ICT skills, and experience on Distance Education in a very short time. As the educational community is exiting this phase, a demand which is put forward by many is the need to deploy the acquired knowledge, skills and experience in schools after Covid-19. More specifically, to increase the quality of their curricula and take advantage of the potentials of Distance Education to increase their capacity to operate jointly at transnational level for promoting collaborative creativity, peer learning and exchanges of experience at European level. How can all this knowledge, skills and experience be put into use in the post Covid-19 era? The eLearning Lab of the University of Crete is going to develop the methodology of a new program for Distance Collaborative Creativity among schools in European countries.
This methodology: Advanced Pedagogy Framework for iLearning-eCreativity-eDiversity in K12 education -APF -R1, is based on the 20-year experience of the eLearning Lab on complementary School Distance Education [ODYSSEUS program 2000-2021, www.edivea.org/2021-home.html ] and the experience gained from its implementation during Covid-19 conditions. This result is innovative since it offers schools and teachers a carefully planned framework for implementing School Distance education and Collaborative Creativity while promoting Diversity and inclusion in online environments between pupils transnationally. This framework has high transferability as it can be adjusted easily to other age groups other than Primary schools and can be utilised to address various topics , from school subjects to extracurricular topics or current affairs such as Literature, Geography, History, Internet Safety, the Envoronment etc. The expected impact on teachers is experience of new knowledge and different teaching methods. As for schools , the expected impact is the development of interdisciplinary approaches to enrich their curricula. Also, the development of openness and cooperation with schools from other countries.
