Interactive Virtual Reality Exhibition (IVRE)

Result Leading Organisation: DIMOTIKO SCHOLEIO KALYVON

Interactive Virtual Reality Exhibition will be the “ArtSteps” web environment which allows users to create virtual art rooms in realistic 3D spaces. A major advantage of ArtSteps is that it can be accessed online with the use of a simple browser without the need to install client software. Furthermore, the content created can be integrated and reproduced directly in other websites. The existing eLearning Lab systems can incorporate material from such a platform. The ArtSteps version which will be developed must have the following features:

1) Allow users to make their own digital 3D stories with Walls and Doors construction materials.

2) Enable colour change and allow texture addition even from outside sources

3) Allow text, image and video addition

4) Include reusable general purpose drag-and-drop 3D Artefacts which help teachers and students create a variety of stories.

5) Be compatible with Poly, Google’s online library

6) Enable Assets created with “Poly Toolkit for Unity” to be integrated into the platform.

7) Enable the setting of Guide Points so that the user can create Guided Tours

8) Provide a preview window in every stage of the process

9) Allow the saving and immediate view of the 3D story.

10) Allow chat among visitors being in the same 3D space of the story simultaneously.

This subsystem will also have its own application for iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets with almost the same possibilities as the web application. If necessary, special applications will be developed for VR systems as well. The user will be able to post every Virtual Exhibition completed on the corresponding web application. The desired impact for teachers and pupils is the development of digital skills, presentation skills and creativity. As mentioned above the transferability potential is enormous since it can be individualized to suit the needs and taste of the users.
